Hanging Rock has trails to waterfalls and rock outcrops overlooking mountains and the piedmont. There are 18 miles of hiking trails and access to horse trails. Swimming and boating is available on the lake in season. Fishing is available year round on the lake and Dan River. Access to Dan River for boating and tubing is nearby. Other outdoor recreation opportuities surround the park in Stokes County. Old Salem, Pilot Mountain State Park, and the Blue Ridge Parkway are less than an hour's drive. |

The park gate locks at night. There is no provision for arrival or leaving during closed hours. Emergency information is provided at registration. Park Hours: December - February: 7am - 7pm March, April: 7am - 9pm May, June, July, August, September: 7am - 10pm October: 7am - 9pm November: 7am - 8pm Closed Christmas Day Check-in is at the campgrounds for campers or visitor center for cabins. Check-in time is 4 P.M. Early check-in is allowed if the campsite is vacated or if cabin cleaning is finished. Reservation holder will be held accountable for property damage. WINSTON-SALEM |
